I shifted my weight slightly, trying to stay silent in the closet I had chosen to hide myself in.  The blade was slowly getting heavier in my hand but I didn't dare sheath it.  Any noise, no matter how slight, could give me away and I was only ready to give up when it was over.

A door opened somewhere to the left, but I couldn't see who was coming through the crack I had left in the door.  Then I heard the voices, two people, a man and woman were walking down the hall towards me.  The closet was in the perfect spot, and the voices I heard were exactly as the servant I had paid described.

Finally, the revenge would come.  Finally it would all end and I would be able to die in peace.  The coin I had payed the servant was negligible, after all what good is money without your head?  I had come here knowing I would die as soon as I finished my task, and I had come to terms with that fact.

The two people finally came into view, a man with a very pretty woman.  I had known a woman would be with him, and now I steeled himself for what was about to happen.  I thought about the murders, how brutal they had been and how I had been forced to watch.  Yes, I could kill the woman.  I hefted the blade into a position to strike immediately after the door opened.

I shoved the door open quickly as soon as they were a little past it with their backs to me.  The door hit the escort and knocking her to the floor, and the man stepped back, reaching behind him and only finding the wall.  He hit his knees and began to beg for mercy.

He was trying to buy time for his guards to come.  However, they were asleep from a highly drugged Rice wine, and the servants knew better than to come up here at night.

He cried to me, begged me, threatened me, and then started all over again.  I was growing tired, and I didn't care to linger any longer.  I pulled the blade back, and swung with all the power I had, thinking about the murders.  My wife and child both dead, and I was left to bleed to death from the cuts on my body.  The light glimmered off the blade as it continued towards his neck.

How many others had this monster killed?  The corrupt royals would do nothing about him because doing so would destroy the person who contributed to their lush lifestyle the most.  The light seemed to dance on the blade, and it grew ever closer.  He understood now there would be no reasoning. His eyes widened with fear, and he began moving out of the way of the incoming blade.  He wasn't fast enough.

The light flashed one final time, glinting evilly over the entire surface of the blade engulfing it, then it disappeared. The blood on the blade was too dark to hold its reflection.  It was over at last.  The woman was rousing now, she had been out for quite some time and I had dallied far too long.

Thats when I realized that I wanted to live, and I had only one way to escape.  I knelt beside the woman, and jerked her head up.  "Your life in exchange for one thing."  I said gruffly, and she gulped hard as she saw the blood splattered all over me.  She would cooperate.

"I know the monster had a tunnel, his servant mentioned it, now where is it?  Please, do not try and play stupid, his servant also mentioned you were the only one he trusted with everything."  I said quickly.
"In the room to the left, behind the suit of armor and weapons."  She said quietly, hoping that the blade in my right hand had no contact with any of her extremeties.

I walked into the room and found the tunnel and came back to her in the hall.  "One last thing, perhaps the most important.  I know you gave him the names of everyone to kill, wench.  Your servant betrayed you."  Her eyes widened as his had, and the blade arced through the air again.

I began walking through the tunnel, which led towards the city.  Yes, it was over.  A few well paid for pieces of information had left two people dead and one quest fulfilled.
